De Queen & Eastern Railroad
The DQ&ERR has been serving Arkansas for over 100 years - from September, 1900. Since then, the De Queen & Eastern has expanded, joined with other short lines, been purchased by Weyerhauser Woods, completed its trackage runs to a total of 84 miles (in 1957), and is currently owned by Patriot Rail. The Patriot Rail moves products that includes plywood chips and pulp board, as well as chemicals, stone, corn and soybeans. These and other products were moved to major railroad interchanges, such as those with MoPac (Missouri Pacific), KCS (Kansas City and Southern) and the Frisco (St. Louis-San Francisco). Currently connections exist to UP (Union Pacific), BNSF (Burlington Northern-Santa Fe), and KCS.
